Presentation Slides for
Bulletproofing, Backups, and Disaster Recovery Scenarios

This is a 66-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, including the viewer, of my Bulletproofing, Backups, and Disaster Recovery Scenarios session for the 2005 SCT Summit Conference. The viewer runs on Windows 95, 98, XP, and other platforms. Select this link to download the self-extracting zip file, bkupreco.exe. It is around 3,080 K in size.

You can either run the self-extract when you download it (by clicking on "Open" button of File Download screen), or run bkupreco.exe after you've downloaded it (after clicking on "Save" button of File Download screen), to unzip it to a directory (defaults to c:\bkupreco), creating the files pngsetup.exe and pres0.ppz.

Then, run pngsetup.exe to unpack the presentation, specifying a destination folder (directory) name. This can be the same directory you unzipped it to. After it is unpacked, it will ask you if you want to run the slide show now.

To view the slide show, run ppview32.exe in the destination folder, click on bkupreco.ppt in the list of files, and click on the Show button. You can also click on the Print button to print the full-sized slides on a laser printer.

When you run the slide show, you can:

  1. Press Enter or Page Down or Down Arrow or Right Arrow to go to the next slide.
  2. Press Page Up or Up Arrow or Left Arrow to go to the previous slide.
  3. Type a number from 1 to 66 and press Enter to go to that slide number.
  4. Press Escape to exit the slide show.
  5. Right Click on the mouse to bring up a menu where you can:
    1. Move over Go and By Title to bring up the list of slides to go to.
    2. Click on Next or Previous to go to the next or previous slide, or on Exit to exit the slide show.
    3. Click on Print to print all or some slides.
